D-Link - Manufacturer review:
Fairly good, common, cheap routers, with a decent amount of features. (Note DSL200 is very poor) Xtra have put a customised interface onto some of the D-link routers, but still fine to setup for any ISP.
D-Link DSL-G604T - ADSLGeek Comments:
the STATUS light is supposed to flash and that is normal. Most common router in australia (4 port + wireless) Loses some points for not as much security on wireless Note the status light always flashes, this means it is working correctly.
D-Link DSL-G604T - Customer Comments:
Anon ?0/0/06 - 8/10. Easy web interface and stuff, has the odd issue (i couldn't add ports to forward for some reason) and I had to master reset it from the web interface. Other than that its very easy to set up, and an excellent overall router. Wireless setup was a breeze. D-Link 604T, is ADSL2+ compatible with a firmware flash.
Product Warnings:
WIRELESS ISSUE: If you are in wireless viscinity, the default wireless network name is dlink and the default password seems to let you in. Be sure to change default settings!!
HARDWARE ISSUE: can have a loud humming noise, this is caused when the ADSL chip connects up. Product recall never happened. Believe it or not, the official fix is to put router in a cupboard, or alternate room, where you don't have to hear it.
NOTE: According to their helpdesk, the most common issue by far, is people downloading the wrong firmware for US, or overseas.
POWER ISSUE: Some of the D-link routers have a reasonable number of fault returns. Seems to be a power issue where it just dies. Just call D-Link helpdesk and organise a return under warranty.
FIRMWARE ISSUE: Earlier versions of firmware seemed to have some issues with stability possibly the ITEX issue with the Alcatel DSLAMs. - Newer versions of firmware seem more stable.
SECURITY ISSUE: MUST have the latest firmware, as security hole using UPMP (?) port allows anyone to take control of the router, information on Dlink website.

How to login:
Visit http://10.1.1.1/ in your web browser and it should prompt you to login.
The default username is admin
The default password is admin
How to add PPPoA connection:
Click on Run wizard
Choose the timezone and hit next
Choose PPPoA/PPPoE and hit next
Enter your username and password. VPI = 0, VCI=100 and connection type=PPPoA VC-Mux, hit next
Set wireless if needed (untick Enable AP for none) and hit next
Click on restart, the modem will restart.
How to check ADSL status:
Click on Status at the top and ADSL on the left.
It will show a table with these figures:
