Netgear WGT624 - ADSLGeek Comments
This router is easy to setup, and seems that when it works it works OK, but the general feedback is that it requires regular reboots that can cause you to reconnect, which can be a common symptom of the cheaper modems in general. The feedback is that you need to log into the modem, and reboot it about every second day, and I have heard of other examples needing a pinhole reset every few months Also there are a few people that had it fail completly overtime, which could be a trend, but I have not had this confirmed, and I am not clear as to what precicely caused this for these people. Also the wireless component while good if you are close and lucky, there was a higher proportion of problems than what I would expect. This is funny as I have heard of really good things from Netgear in the past, but there has been some really bad feedback of late, which might be a general decline in quality. A quote I read that mirrored most of the feedback was: "This router is without a doubt is the worst router in the market. The router has too much problems. You would lose connection after 2 or 3 hours of use. Once you have lost connection, it is very difficult to restart it. It has a very slow start up. I never recommend this product to anyone. The worst router." I would be keen to hear feedback from Netgear as to whether this is a regular trend or something that was unique to the feedback I have seen. Also feedback was that the overseas helpdesk was not that good. The balance of those reviews I read were about 90% strongly negative with a few happy customers bucking the trend. GENERAL ISSUES: Unstable, needing rebooting to resync and also pinhole resets there was one customer that had problems with the Antenna coming loose.
